NAM Ministerial Meeting Kicks off Work in Tehran

The ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Human Rights and Cultural Diversity started work here in Tehran on Monday. The two-day meeting is attended by 100 delegations from different NAM member states.

The meeting was started by the inaugural address of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while Cuban foreign minister, whose country holds rotating presidency of the NAM, secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and deputy head of the United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are among other figures to make a speech in today’s meeting.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini in his press conference on Sunday described the Tehran meeting of the NAM ministers and its final statement on human rights and cultural diversity as a significant step in reinvigorating international dialogue.
