Interior Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi said Iranian and Pakistani officials have started negotiations for the extradition of a number of criminals who were arrested by the Pakistani police after they took several Iranian citizens hostage and crossed the two neighbors’ borders last month. The minister said the two countries’ border guards have already attended several meetings to verify the legal and judicial documents proving that the hostage-takers are Iranian nationals and should be returned to Iran according to the two countries’ agreement for the extradition of criminals.
He also added that a delegation, to be presided by one of his deputies, will be dispatched to Pakistan in coming days to follow up the issue.
