South Africa’s deputy justice minister said human rights conditions have deteriorated in the western countries since the September 11 attacks on New York twin towers. Addressing the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on ‘Human Rights and Cultural Diversity’ here in Tehran on Tuesday, the African official said ever since the 9-11 incident in the US, problems of minorities have increased in western countries.
He further reiterated that minorities are now living under cumbersome and regrettable conditions in hegemonic countries.
The South African deputy justice minister further called on the United Nations to launch serious campaign against racism, and underlined, “We support the results of the Tehran conference, and we hope that all countries render support to the results of this significant conference which follows the same goals pursed by the Durban conference.”
