Iran said a warning by the French foreign minister that the world should brace for war with Iran damages the credibility of France and is out of line with EU policy. “It seems that the French foreign minister has forgotten the policy of the European Union,” Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini said in a statement.
“The use of such words creates tensions and is contrary to the cultural history and civilization of France.
“The fact that the declarations of French officials are in line with the position of the dominant power damages the credibility of France with respect to public opinion, especially in the Middle East.”
His comments were the first reaction from an Iranian official to French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner’s remarks in a television interview that the world should brace for a possible war over Iran’s nuclear drive.
