Senegalese Prime Minister Cheikh Hadjibou Soumare described Iran as a large country with abundant and high potentials, and voiced enthusiasm for paying a visit to the Islamic Republic. The Senegalese premier made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Dakar Jahanbakhsh Hassanzadeh on Friday.
During the meeting, Soumare stated his pleasure in the two countries’ friendly ties, and voiced satisfaction with the present trend of the development of relations and the existing progress in the implementation of the agreements already held by the two states.
He further underlined the significance of the role of the two countries’ joint economic commission in the bolstering of Iran-Senegal cooperation.
Soumare also pointed to his fruitful meeting with Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi in Dakar a few months ago, and said that he has demanded his ministers to take the required measures to further expand ties with Iran.
He also noted the importance of the exchange of senior delegations between the two countries, and said he is eager to pay a visit to the Islamic Republic.
For his part, the Iranian envoy also voiced pleasure in the two countries’ cordial ties, and briefed the Senegalese premier about the growing trend of relations and cooperation between the two states as well as the progresses made in oil and power transfer projects and establishment of an Iranian auto-manufacturing factory in Senegal.
He noted Iran’s potentials in the technical and engineering services, and called for Iran’s participation in developmental projects in Senegal.
The diplomat also expressed the hope that with the holding of the third meeting of the two countries’ joint commission, Iran-Senegal relations would experience further development in a variety of areas.
