Parliament Speaker Calls for Enhanced Unity among Muslims

A0090568108.jpgIranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel called on Muslim nations and governments to play a more powerful international role through enhancing unity and solidarity.“If Muslims appreciated the power and glory of their unity and if governments appreciated the value of their nations, people in a large extent of such Muslim lands as Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan and some parts of Africa, including Darfur, would not be inflicted with so much pain and agony,” Haddad Adel said while addressing an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here on Sunday.

He further pointed to remarks made by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, during the Eid-al-Fitr prayers – marking the end of Muslims’ fasting month of Ramadan – on Saturday, and termed Eid-al-Fitr a good opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their solidarity and unity.

The top legislative official extended his congratulations on the advent of Eid-al-Fitr to the entire world Muslims, the Iranian nation and the Supreme Leader, and called on Islamic states to take effective measures to increase solidarity and unity among the Islamic Ummah (nation) as emphasized by Ayatollah Khamenei.
