Iran pursues cooperation with Afghanistan due to the two nations’ common religious beliefs, joint interests and shared borders, Iranian foreign minister said.

Iran said that it would consider possibility for continuing talks with Washington on Iraq if only US officials extended a relevant request to Tehran through diplomatic channels.

Iran will open a consulate in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil on Tuesday, Tehran’s third such office in the war-ravaged country, a senior Kurdish official said on Monday.
