Tunisian FM says international aid to Libya should be managed by UN

The Tunisian Foreign Minister, Khamees Al-Jhinawy, stated that the international support to Libya is flawed as successive Libyan governments failed to clearly define its needs and priorities.
In a high level meeting concerning the international support to the Government of National Accord (GNA), on Tuesday in Tunisia, Al-Jhinawy stated that effects of aid by countries and organizations on Libyan citizens have become difficult to be measured, as donors usually send money through its own channels.
He asserted that the future support to Libya must consider the urgent needs of Libyans and priorities of the GNA, adding that it must be presented under the supervision of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
Al-Jhinawy spoke of Tunisia’s role in supporting the GNA through hosting the conference for Libya’s neighboring countries last month, which formed an important step towards recognizing the GNA by neighboring countries and regional organizations.
Tunisia reiterated that it puts all its potentials at the disposal of Libyans to restore peace and stability and build capabilities in health, education, management, professional training and judiciary.
