Duma Stresses Legality of Iran’s N. Activities

A0241353.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Vice-Speaker of the Russian Duma said that Iran’s nuclear activities are conducted within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) rules sand regulations and are, thus, fully legal.

Addressing the 7th Conference of the General Assembly of Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) here in Tehran Sunday afternoon, Telengrov noted Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and stressed, “All Iran’s nuclear activities lie within the boundaries of the IAEA rules and regulations and they are, thus, fully legal.”

He said that organizing of the AAPP conference in Tehran indicates that the Iranian government attaches much significance to peace and security.

The Russian legislative official also stressed the need for campaign against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, and noting his country’s desirable technical, scientific and cultural possibilities, he called for the development of economic and political ties with Asian states.

He also voiced Russia’s enthusiasm for the development of ties with Asian partners, adding that Moscow is inclined to take long strides towards convergence in a bid to help to the expansion of peace.

The lawmaker said that arrangement of such meetings as the AAPP conference could base a proper fundament for global economy and security, while it could also enhance the role of Asian countries at the United Nations.

Pointing to the role of the general assembly of the Asian Parliaments, he pointed out that Russia would strive to help to turn the AAPP general assembly into a proper instrument for the establishment of peace and stability.
