US Experiencing Results of Wrong Policies

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that the defeat of the US Republican party in the recent midterm legislative elections was a result of the wrong policies they had practiced in different areas.

A statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said that Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Mahmoud al-Zehar here in Tehran on Tuesday.

Also during the meeting, Mottaki said that Palestine is not just an Islamic, but a global issue pertaining to all human beings.

He said developments in Palestine have created a sensitive and complicated situation, adding that the US and Israeli regimes have experienced defeat on different international and regional arenas, including in Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine.

The top diplomat also stated that the victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah has sustained grave losses on the Zionist regime.

He further described the results of the dialogue among the different Palestinian groups as positive and constructive, and advised Palestinian parties and groups to exercise vigilance in the face of the Zionists’ plots.

Stressing Iran’s’ support for Palestinians, he described the strong support for the Palestinian cause by Muslim states as a factor playing a strategic role.

For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister, Mahmoud al-Zehar said the status quo in his country is regrettable which he said is a result of the recent massacre of the Palestinians in Beit Hanoun in Gaza.

He said that the inhuman behavior of the Zionists has arisen extensive protests worldwide, stressing that the United States’ blind support for the Israeli regime has made the world community feel disappointed with the US approach towards the Middle-East issue.

Also noting the results of the democratic elections in Palestine, he said the election results are the fruit of the Palestinians’ struggle with the Zionist regime to restore their legitimate rights.

Al-Zehar stressed that captivity of a Zionist soldier by the Palestinian groups and the courageous resistance shown by the Lebanese Hezbollah have made the US and Israelis’ Great Middle-East Plan futile.

He further briefed Mottaki about the results of the recent foreign ministerial meeting of the Arab League in Cairo.
