According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, Hoseini further stated, “Assessments of some Lebanese officials on Iran’s role in that country contradict the reality of Tehran’s relations with the Lebanese ethnic groups and parties.”

“Iran has always approached Lebanon with good intentions and supported that country’s national sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity,” he continued, adding that the Islamic Republic’s benevolent stance on Lebanon has always been in conformity with that country’s national interests.”

Hoseini further pointed to Iran’s ties with the late Rafiq al-Hariri, as a prominent politician and nationalist, as a crystal-clear and transparent proof to Iran’s goodwill in its relations with Lebanon.

He also referred to Iran’s support for Hezbollah’s resistance and victory over the Israeli regime, which brought honor for the Islamic and Arab nations, as further proof substantiating the aforementioned fact.

The diplomat expressed hope that all Lebanese ethnic groups and political parties would keep away from such approaches which could serve the interests of foreigners and damage lofty interests of the Lebanese nation and that they move forward towards national reconciliation in a bid to establish an independent Lebanon.

Hoseini underlined that the wise and vigilant Lebanese nation would, undoubtedly, avoid getting involved with marginal issues in order not to ignore the threats posed by its arch enemy, the Zionist regime.

He also expressed hope that the Lebanese people would take longer strides to materialize their goals and aspirations and achieve absolute independence.
