TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian foreign minister Manuchehr Mottaki said that Canada remains obligated to coordinate many cases and issues with London and Washington and expressed hope that Canada will gain its complete independence.
In a joint press conference with his Malaysian counterpart Hamed Albar here on Thursday, Mottaki reacted to the presentation of a proposal to the UN’s General Assembly by Canada concerning human rights conditions in Iran and expressed hope that Canada will manage to gain its complete independence.
He considered the recent measure by Canada as an outdated political instrument used by the west in the past, an instrument that relies on dual and selective approach towards human rights issue.
Mottaki said that the record and performance of Canada’s masters (the US and the West) in the region and in the case of human rights are not defendable and making reference to the US’s clandestine and secret detention camps in the world and practice of torture in the Iraqi and Guantanamo prisons he added that such measures leave no room for the west to pretend they are advocates of human rights.
The Iranian foreign minister advised the Canadian government to be answerable to human society concerning its mistreatment of the Canadian natives adding that the horrible and of course modern violation of the rights of the Canadian natives by the government of that country is a case for which Iran has for the first time presented a resolution to the UN this year.
Mottaki added that the Iranian representative delegation to the UN has presented a resolution to the UN against the Canadian government in connection with the violation of the rights of a portion of the Canadian natives and aboriginals. The proposal may not be highly welcomed by the UN member states this year due to the fact that many countries are still unaware of what is going on in Canada, however, we will follow up on this case quite seriously to reveal the crimes committed by the Canadian government in terms of human rights.
In another part of his remarks, Iranian foreign minister condemned assassination of the Lebanese minister of industries and stated that we trace the enemies of unity, solidarity and resistance of Lebanon behind this act of terror.
