Iran Views Expansion of Ties with Azerbaijan as Significant

A02368768.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Iran attaches special significance to the development of relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaking during his first round of talks with his visiting Azeri counterpart, General Najjar pointed out that close religious and historical commonalities of the two nations require expansion of mutual cooperation in all fronts.

He further expressed satisfaction at the developing trend of the two countries’ relations, and voiced Iran’s preparedness to transfer defense-related experiences to Azerbaijan, specially in the technical and industrial grounds.

Reiterating the necessity for strengthening peace and stability in the region, the Iranian Defense Minister stressed the need for solving regional issues and problems through constructive dialogues.

For his part, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industries Yavar Jamalov stated his pleasure with his visit to Iran, and said his country welcomes development of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly and powerful country.

Briefing his Iranian counterpart on the duties and programs of his ministry, he emphasized further development of the two countries’ relations in the field of defense.

The minister expressed the hope that his visit to Tehran would underpin Iran-Azerbaijan all-out defense cooperation.
