Addressing a fervent congregation of the worshippers on Tehran University campus here today, he noted the plots hatched by the enemies against Islam, and said, “Following the Islamic Revolution, the Britons and Americans have been seeking to pose different threats to Iran and strove to sow seeds of discord between the Muslim Shiites and Sunnites.”

“They made a proper use of Saddam Hussein to this end, but they must know and they, of course, know that this weapon is of no efficiency any more,” the cleric added.

He further reminded that the director of the US Foreign Relations Council has described Bush’s policy on Iraq and menacing Iran as wrong measures and has instead proposed for direct negotiations with Iran.

“Gorbachev also believes that Bush is stuck in a quagmire, while Bush himself has confessed to his errors,” Imami Kashani continued.

Stressing the need for Islamic vigilance and intelligence, he called on the world Muslims to identify threats and plots.

He also addressed the US, and said, “The world and the Middle-East are now vigilant. The Iranian nation will respond to all your plots on the rallies to be staged on the 22nd of Bahman (11 of February) and we hope that the whole world will give you a proper response.”
