US Awe Shattered in Iraq

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the historical defeat and failure of the US and its allies in Iraq shattered their global awe. Addressing the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ahl-ul-Bait General Assembly here on Saturday, Ahmadinejad said that following the collapse of the former Soviet Union, the western powers started deployment of their forces all across the world.

Referring to the invasion of Iraq, he said that enemies (western powers, and specially the US) are caught in a quagmire from which they could hardly get out.

The Iranian president further blasted the US for chanting lies about establishment of democracy in the world, underlining that nobody believes in the US-style democracy.

“No one supports the world arrogance’s warmongering policies; they have even failed to establish and implement a true liberal-democratic system in their own countries,” he said.

Meantime, Ahmadinejad described the US invasion and occupation of Iraq and the massacre of the defenseless Palestinian and Lebanese nations as clear examples of crime against humanity by the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel.

He said that Zionism was the pioneer of Western-style Liberal democracy and the vanguard of occupation and aggression worldwide, and continued, “The Zionist regime is the flag of Satan.”
