Iran Protests at US General’s Allegations

A024709833.jpgThe Islamic Republic of Iran Tuesday voiced strong protest at the recent statements made by the commander of the US troops in central Iraq. “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s government states its strong protest against the baseless and unfounded statements of General Lynch, and rejects these allegations vehemently,” the Iranian foreign ministry said in a letter to the Swiss charge de affair to Tehran, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said.

The note of protest also described the illogical remarks of the US General as a kind of projecting blames and responsibilities, saying that his words contradicted the relations existing between Iran and Iraq.

The foreign ministry also called on the Swiss embassy to present the required explanations in this regard.

In absence of formal relations, Swiss embassy in Tehran represents US interest section.
