US Project to Undermine Islamic Revolution Defeated by Iranians

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said here on Friday that the US project to weaken the Islamic Revolution has been defeated by the vigilant and informed Iranian nation. Addressing a large and fervent congregation of Tehrani worshipers on Tehran University Campus today, the leader said that Iranian people would continue the same path until “no power would dare to threaten this nation, even in his mind.”

Referring to the causes underlying the failure of the front of arrogant powers in confrontation with Iran, he noted the eight years of war imposed on Iran by Saddam Hussein and his allies, and said, “The main objective of this huge and heavy project was annihilation of the Islamic Revolution.”

“Western analysts and officials strove to thwart its (the Islamic Revolution’s) progress, because they had found out that the Islamic Revolution would inspire the world of Islam,” the leader continued.

He further dismissed the recent threats of sanction posed to Iran by the US and Western officials, reminding that the Iranian nation was under severe sanctions during the Iraqi imposed war.

“Yet, as far as military potentials and capabilities are concerned it (Iran) has now reached a status that it has the final say in the region, while it has also gained glorious progress in such other fields as the nuclear technology,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He said the Iranian nation has proved that resistance, reliance on national forces, initiative and self-reliance would make sanctions backfire.

The Supreme Leader pointed to the failure of all US plans, including its Greater Middle-East initiative, following the 9-11 incident, and said that US officials had a multi-dimensional project to create a pro-Zionist Middle East, “but (they) faced defeat at all layers of that project.”

He described the ascending to power of the popular Hamas Government in Palestine, the victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah over the Israeli army in the 33-day war last summer and Washington’s futile efforts to establish a puppet regime in Iraq as among the most outstanding defeats and failures of the US administration in recent years.

The Leader said after four years, all analysts now believe that the US has been defeated in the scene of Iraq, adding that Americans are seeking a prestigious withdrawal from that country.

He also mentioned weakening the Islamic Republic as among the other dimensions of the Greater Middle-East plan, and said, “Enemies of Iran failed in attaining this goal as well, because the Iranian nation …is now stronger than previous years in all the political, economic, scientific and social areas and the Iranian nation is present in all scenes more hectic and vigilant than ever.”

Ayatollah Khamenei viewed as futile the efforts made by the US media to project the blame for Washington’s failures and defeats on Iran, and said, “Americans are accusing Iran to escape their defeat in Iraq, but even the recent report to the US Congress announced Iraq’s joining to the US weapons clients list as the only achievement of the US occupation of that country. And this indicates ultimate weakness and failure of the US administration.”
