UAE signs investment and tax deals with Uzbekistan

The UAE and Uzbekistan signed three agreements on investment promotion and protection, avoidance of double taxation and political consultations to extend cooperation.

The agreements were signed in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
 

Shaikh Mohammad returned home on Saturday after a two-day official visit to Uzbekistan. He was received at Dubai airport by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Mayed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
 

Earlier in Tashkent, the Vice-President held talks with Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev on various political and economic issues as well as bilateral ties and ways to bolster them in all fields.
 

Precious gift
 

Mirziyayev warmly welcomed Shaikh Mohammad and described his visit as a step towards extending bridges of economic and cultural cooperation between the two nations and their people.
 

The Uzbek leader expressed hope that the visit would contribute to developing relations and take cooperation between the two countries to new levels.
 

Shaikh Mohammad and Mirziyayev later toured Tashkent and visited Independence Square where Shaikh Mohammad laid a wreath at the Independence Monument.
 

Shaikh Mohammad presented a copy of his book My Vision to the prime minister who described it as a “precious gift.”
 

Shaikh Mohammad later sent cables to President Islam Karimov and Prime Minister Mirziyayev, thanking them for the warm hospitality accorded to him during his visit.       Š
