Over 40 Russians, Puppets Slain in Chechnya in 72 Hours

5_11.jpg14 Russians and puppets were killed and 27 were wounded in various districts of Chechnya in 72 hours on October 17-19, 2006, according to a report for the Kavkaz Center news agency from the Chechen Military Command.This reckoning is incomplete and actual enemy casualties could be higher, the report said. 

As earlier reported, Chechen fighters ambushed a Russian motorized convoy on a road between the villages of Achkhoi Martan and  Kotai Yurt on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, killing 6 and wounding 10 Russian colonial troops consisting of natives. The Mujahideen suffered no casualties.

 

A Russian humvee was attacked with grenade-launcher fire in the district of Achkhoi Martan on October 17, 2006. At least one Russian soldier was killed and 2 others were severely wounded in the action.

 

A brief firefight between Chechen Mujahideen and Russian occupation forces took place in a forested area in the Urus Martan district on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. A mobile group of Chechen Mujahideen engaged in a battle with a unit of Russian army special forces troops. The firefight lasted for 20 minutes. 1 Russian soldier was killed and 4 others were wounded in the fierce battle. No information about possible losses among the Mujahideen was available.

 

Mujahideen opened fire on a group of Russians and puppets who were carrying out a so-called area  purge operation near the Stary Achkhoi village on Wednesday night, October 18, 2006. The firefight lasted for more than 1 hour. According to radio intercept, 2 enemy troops were killed and at least 3 others were wounded in the attack.

 

Sabotage groups of Mujahideen attacked 6 times invaders’ and puppets’ positions in the Chechen capital of Jokhar on the night between October 18-19, 2006.   3 Russian soldiers were killed and at least 4 puppet troops were wounded in Mujahideen attacks on enemy security posts and patrols.

 

Mujahideen attacked with grenade-launcher fire a mobile party of armored Russian vehicles 1.5 km south of the village of Dishny Vedeno in the Vedeno district on Thursday, October 19, 2006, disabling one military vehicle, killing 1 and wounding 4 Russian troops. Mujahideen suffered no casualties. No further details about the operation were mentioned in the report.
