Ahmadinejad made the remarks prior to his daylong visit to Doha, where he has been invited to attend a heads of state summit of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) on Monday.

The president said that during the trip, he would seek to expand comprehensive multilateral cooperation among Persian Gulf littoral states, reminding the Islamic Republic’s 30-year-long efforts to boost cooperation and brotherly ties with the neighboring countries.

“This visit takes place at the formal invitation of the Qatari Emir and I am slated to attend a series of the PGCC meetings and hold bilateral talks with the member states,” he said, adding that he is also scheduled to attend a joint meeting with all the participant heads of state.
