resizer189Romanian prosecutors on Monday indicted former economy minister Codrut Seres and former communications minister Zsolt Nagy for their involvement in “shady privatisation deals”.

Four other persons, including a Czech and a Turkish citizen, were also indicted. Prosecutors say that, between May 2005 and November 2006, the defendants were part of a criminal group that obtained secret commercial documents which they gave to foreign companies taking part in the sale ofRomanian state-owned companies.

Codrut Seres has in the past told reporters that he is innocent, claiming that the case was politically motivated and orchestrated by President Traian Basescu, who has been in conflict with Seres’ Conservative party.
