Moldova expels Romanian ambassador: official

CHISINAU – Moldova has ordered the Romanian ambassador to leave the country within 24 hours, the Moldovan foreign ministry said on Wednesday after officials blamed Bucharest for bloody riots a day earlier.

Filip Teodorescu, plus the embassy’s counsellor, were “declared persona non grata due to activities incompatible with their diplomatic status and must leave the country,” a foreign ministry statement said.

Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin on Wednesday accused neighbouring Romania of involvement in the anti-Communist riots that shook the capital Chisinau on Tuesday.
