Romanian President lauds “strategic” relations with Kuwait

Romanian President Traian Basescu hailed on Wednesday as “stable and strategic” the friendly relations between his country and Kuwait.

During his meeting with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Romania Yaqoub Al-Ateeqi – on the occasion of the end of his term in office in Bucharest – Basescu stressed that the bilateral ties grew steadily during the last few years. Such development portrays the strict attention paid by both sides to the relations in all sectors, Al-Ateeqi quoted the president as saying during the meeting.

Al-Ateeqi recalled that Kuwait Embassy in Bucharest was opened by HH the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah in 2006. Since then the bilateral ties and cooperation in all domains have been developing cooperation remarkably, he said.

Al-Ateeqi added that President Basescu praised the role played by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in supporting Romania.

He also extolled the democratic experiment of Kuwait that made the country a role model for other nations in the region.

Al-Ateeqi delivered the regards from His Highness the Amir to the Romanian leader, government and people.
