Leaders of the ruling coalition consider that the first sitting of the new Parliament must be held earlier

CHISINAU, Moldova

The Leaders of the ruling coalition consider that the first sitting of the new Parliament should be slated for an earlier date, but not for August 28.

They told journalists about this on Tuesday before the beginning of the new round on the formation of the new Government.

Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova Vladimir Filat remarked that Vladimir Voronin wants to be the President and the Parliament Chairman on the Independence Day, on August 27.

Leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova Marian Lupu remarked that the first sitting of the new Parliament must be held earlier, the political situation in the country is very tense and the economic situation is even much worse.

Leader of the Liberal Party of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu cast in doubt the constitutionality of the Presidential decree on convening the Parliament sitting on August 28.

“After the dissolution of the Parliament, he cannot be the Parliament Chairman any longer and, therefore, the head of the state”, the LPM Leader said.
