Georgian foreign ministry to get familiarize Georgian diplomats with its priorities

GEORGIA

The Georgian Foreign Ministry called Georgian diplomats accredited abroad to Tbilisi. Such a meeting is held for the first time after Georgia-Russia war in 2008. It was opened by Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze in the hotel ‘Courtyard Marriott’.

“We will also discuss the situation in the region. Our priorities are security, stability, revival and democracy in the region,” minister said at the beginning of a two-day meeting.

He said that the ministry has done much but there is much to be done. Vashadze said that representatives of the ministry and Georgian diplomats will discuss their priorities at this meeting.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who is on a visit to Georgia, will join this meeting tonight.

“Turkish foreign minister will join the meeting at 06:00 p.m. First, this tradition occurred in Finland, when Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb invited his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner,” Vashadze said.

During the today’s meeting, it will deal with the priorities, including the occupied territories, the simplification of visa regime with the EU, drawing investments and intensification of the international contacts, Georgian Ambassador to Italy, Kote Gabashvili, said before the meeting.

Ministers in the Georgian government will attend the meeting.
