Visa abolishment criteria “by end of month”

Interior Minister Ivica Dačić stated that Serbia will in September meet all the remaining criteria for abolishing visas.

This will be necessary for Serbian citizens to travel to all the Schengen area countries.

“All remaining criteria for the visa regime abolishment will be realized during September, about which we will inform the European Commission by September 25”, said Dačić in Belgrade on Monday

He expressed confidence that the European Union will, after that, continue their internal procedure for the adoption of the decision which will place Serbia on the white Schengen list.

That procedure, according to Dačić, should end by December, which should enable the visa regime liberalization to take effect as of the beginning of 2010.
