Georgia to host conference of Association of South Caucasus’s Municipalities

zx500y290_8043092A conference of the Association of Municipalities of the South Caucasus countries will be held in Kutaisi on Oct.29-30.

The two-day conference will be held upon the initiative of the Local Democracy Agency and the Congress of the regional and local municipalities of the Council of Europe, the Bureau of the Council of Europe in Georgia, said.

The main objective of the conference is to support local and regional democracy in the South Caucasus, as well as to promote cooperation between municipalities in the region.

The activities and plans for the future of the South Caucasus countries’ municipalities will be introduced at the event on Oct. 29. On Oct. 30 the conference will consider the euro-regional cross-border cooperation.

The Local Democracy Agency of Georgia was established in September 2006. The agency holds various projects in Georgia to increase capacity of government and civil society, development of civic engagement and regional cooperation.
