Former President of the Republic of Srpska Biljana Plavšić will be released from Hilsenberg prison as planned, Swedish authorities confirmed.
“Biljana Plavšić will be released today,” Swedish Ministry of Justice spokeswoman Janet Matsson said on Monday.
However, she could not specify the exact procedure nor the time when Plavšić would leave the prison.
The Swedish government decided last week to release Plavšić early after she served two thirds of her sentence.
The Hague Tribunal granted her early release in mid-September.
On October 24 she served two thirds of her 11-year sentence which she received after being found guilty of crimes against humanity committed during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.
