Kutaisi will host the conference of the Association of Local Authorities of the South Caucasus on Oct. 29-30.
According to the Bureau of the Council of Europe (CE) in Georgia, the two-day conference has been initiated by the Association of Local Democracy Agencies and the CE Congress of the Regional Bodies and Local Authorities.
The conference aims to support local and regional democracy in the South Caucasus, as well as promote cooperation between local authorities and organizational networks in the region.
On Oct. 29 the conference will present the activities and future plans of local governments of the South Caucasus. On Oct. 30m the conference will address the issues of Euro-regional cross-border cooperation, decentralization, and active citizenship.
The Agency of Local Democracy since its establishment (September 2006) implements various projects in Georgia, aimed at increasing capacity of government and civil society, developing civic engagement and regional cooperation.
