Marian Lupu to discuss Transnistria problem while in St. Petersburg

Moldovan Democratic Party Chairman MP Marian Lupu will attend a congress of Yedinaya Rossiya [United Russia] governing party to be held in St. Petersburg on Friday, and will use an opportunity to meet and talk to another guest of the congress – Chairman of the Obnovleniye [Renovation] Republican Party of Transnistria, ex-Speaker of the Transnistrian supreme soviet [parliament] Yevgeny Shevchuk.

Marian Lupu told a news conference here today that he is looking forward with impatience to a meeting with the outstanding Tiraspol politician.

“Mr. Shevchuk belongs to a new generation – both as a politician and a personality. He demonstrates flexibility and understanding. A meeting with him should be promising for the country reintegration process”, he said.

Marian Lupu said he will visit Brussels on November 29: “I know the city quite well thank to my 17-year-long experience of political meetings with European institutions’ officials. The idea I am going to promote there is an active popularization of Moldova at European Union institutions. I will have meetings with a number of high-ranked officials, including from the European Commission, Council of Europe, with the Chairperson or a Deputy Chair of the European Parliament in order to discuss Moldova’s problems and achievements”.
