Moldova and Romania to sign justice cooperation accord

The ministers of justice from Romania and Moldova will sign a collaboration agreement in the next 2 months. The information was released after ministers Alexandru Tanase and Catalin Predoiu met yesterday, the latter attending Romanian president Traian Basescu in Chisinau.

The 2 officials met at the justice minister from Chisinau and discussed about justice-related cooperation opportunities between Moldova and Romania. Tanase and Predoiu appointed a vice-minister and a state secretary to elaborate a collaboration accord within 60 days.

They also agreed to meet at least twice a year. Predoiu stated he would offer the Moldovan justice minister an expert that should analyze the reform regarding judge status liberalization, that is, appointing private judges.

The accord stipulates experience exchanges in the domains of law, justice management, organization and functioning of law institutions, penitentiary administration, preventing and fighting crime.
The agreement will be signed for one year, but can be extend for one more year.
