Slovenian Top Court approves Croatia border deal

Slovenia’s Constitutional Court gave a green light on Tuesday to a border arbitration agreement with Croatia, helping remove a major obstacle in Zagreb’s European Union accession talks.

The court’s ruling that the arbitration deal reached last September was in line with the constitution will enable Slovenia to proceed with ratification in parliament, which Croatia has already done.

The deal was signed by Prime ministers of Croatia and Slovenia in November 2009 in Stockholm under Swedish EU presidency patronage.
