Moldova is going to have a museum of Stalinist repression victims

Wednesday, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat asked Moldovan Minister of Culture Boris Focsa to urgently find a place for such institution.

The Prime Minister said: “The Government shall provide funding for organizing and opening the museum. Every citizen must know what happened to the nation. Our children must know the nation’s history in order to know how to build the future”.

Moldovan Minister of Education Leonid Bujor stated that next September 1, on the first day of a new academic year, the first lesson at all Moldovan educational institutions will be dedicated to Stalinist deportations and famine. For decades on end, the first lesson on September 1 in Moldova used to be the traditional Peace Lesson, like in other FSU states and some countries of Europe.
