Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister: Serbia appreciates Romania’s support

Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić says Serbia highly appreciates Romania’s backing to the country’s territorial integrity and EU integration.

Dačić, who is visiting Bucharest today, stressed the significance of the support for Serbia since Romania is one of the EU member states which have not recognized the illegal independence of Kosovo and Metohija.

The participation of Romanian soldiers and policemen in the international forces in Kosovo is important for the safety of Serbs there, the Serbian minister said at a joint news conference with his Romanian counterpart Vasile Blaga.

Dačić also thanked Romania for the support that country offered Serbia in the process of visa liberalization.

Blaga announced that Romania would continue supporting Serbia on its EU path in the same manner as it had backed the country’s joining the White Schengen List.

The talks with Blaga, who is also Romania’s minister of administration, were held at the beginning of Dačić’s official visit to Romania, which will be continued by talks at the Regional Center for Combating Transborder Crime in Bucharest later in the day.
