Moldovan citizens will have to choose between two kinds of destiny at the early parliamentary elections: between the past and the future, between stagnation and development, between life characterized by the depressed dynamism and another model of the European modernity.
The message was transmitted to Chisinau on Friday by Adrian Severin, the European Parliamentary, during the meetings with Moldovan mass media representatives.
Severin said Moldovan parties should unite to pave the way for a common government. We don’t think that the competition between the political parties should be geopolitical, Severin said. According to him, politicians should focus not on the pro-Western or pro-Eastern messages but on the pro-Moldovan ones. “Parties of the right, center-right, center-left, left wings should cooperate between themselves as a big alternative offered to the country instead of small differences characterizing their programs or as short-term electoral interests which surely always rouse spirits”, the European Deputy said.
At the same time, the European Parliamentary urged the Moldovan population to vote for a prosperous democratic country, freedom of justice, freedom of citizens and social equality.
Adrian Severin said he had transmitted the following message: unity and maturity – during the numerous meetings with representatives of Moldovan political forces and officials. In addition to that, two messages were transmitted by the EU high-rank representatives widely presented in Chisinau: the EU’s support to Moldova’s European prospects and concern with political instability in the country.
Severin also said the EU’s presence in Moldova depended on the situation after the early parliamentary elections. If population chooses the option of stagnation or if the option is for future but the parliament is dispersed by internal party arrogances, the EU wouldn’t have a role to play in Moldova.
“It is extremely important and if the appeal is heard, then we can believe that the European Union can take into consideration the transition of Moldova from the status of the neighboring country, the eternal neighbor of the European Union, to the status similar to status of the countries Moldova is referring to – from Western Balkan (…) However, if the state of confusion continues in Moldova, if parties believe that it is more important in such a crucial moment for the country’s history to pursue each other and to try to achieve their personal successes rather than successes of the country, the European Union undoubtedly won’t be able to assume the responsibility to act substituting the country’s citizens. In the long run, we are trying to open our gates in the broadest sense of the word. To have an effect from this opening, Moldovans have to prepare to pass through those open gates”, Adrian Severin, the European Parliamentary said.
