EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton called on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) politicians Wednesday (October 27th) to come up with a new development strategy for the country. In an address to the European Parliament’s (EP) Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ashton stressed that the unemployment rate in BiH is 39% and a whole new generation of young people needs help, jobs and prospects. She stressed the EU and the United States have agreed to support any viable strategy that will accelerate BiH’s EU integration and reforms. Earlier, Ashton had urged BiH politicians to quickly form new institutions after the October 3rd general and presidential elections, to embrace key reforms.
