Serbia: Bosniak National Council elections postponed

The Serbian authorities have decided to postpone elections for the Bosniak (Muslim) National Council, previously set to take place on April 17.

This was announced on Wednesday in Belgrade by Local Administration and Human and Minority Rights Minister Milan Marković.

He said that a new date would be determined after new consultations with participants in last year’s elections for the council.

Marković also revealed that the decision to postpone elections came after consultations he held last week with representatives of three Bosniak lists, none of which registered for the April 17 elections.

The original voting took place in June last year, when elections were held for councils of all of the country’s ethnic minorities.
