“A name with a geographic term is an acceptable solution for Greece for the name dispute with Macedonia”, said Greek foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas. He added that Athens finds acceptable names such as Upper Macedonia or Northern Macedonia, which to be adopted for international use.
According to Droutsas, this would eliminate all territorial or nationalist issues. The Greek minister said further that there is a change in Skopje’s approach towards the name dispute. “They realised that the name dispute should be solved so as to have a real perspective,” Dimitris Droutsas said.
