Catherine Ashton and Stefan Fule welcome Moldova border agreement with Ukraine

“We welcome the agreement reached on 30 June 2011 between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova regarding the demarcation of the borderline between the two countries at the Odessa-Reni highway sector at Palanca”, Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, wrote in their joint statement today.

They also stated: “We encourage the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to continue their efforts to resolve all the outstanding issues regarding border demarcation. The EU stands ready to facilitate this process. More generally, this is also the result of constructive work between neighbors in the spirit of the Eastern Partnership.”
