UN Security Council meeting on Kosovo to be rescheduled

UN Security Council debate on Kosovo could be postponed due to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s two day visit to Serbia.

The UN Security Council session will not be held on August 24 and it will probably be held a week later.

Since the German chancellor will visit Belgrade on August 22-23 it would be practically impossible for Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić to get to New York in time for the debate on the crisis in north Kosovo.

Most probably, the UN Security Council meeting will be rescheduled for August 29, so the foreign minister would be able to present Serbian authorities’ official position regarding the latest events in Kosovo.
