UN mediator in the Greek-Macedonian name dispute, Matthew Nimetz, is ready with a new proposal envisaging the name issue to be solved at different stages.
Nimetz’s new proposal envisages for Macedonia to get an invitation for NATO membership during the Chicago summit with the name Upper Macedonia, while the name dispute to be finally solved stage by stage.
The proposal was made during UN mediator’s visit to Athens.
The problem is whether the proposal would be accepted by New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras, who is expected to win the next parliamentary elections in Greece.
