Bulgaria’s Yuri Sterk named EU ambassador to Uzbekistan

Yuri Sterk, Bulgaria’s ambassador to Israel, has been appointed on 16 May along as chief of the EU delegation in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

He is the second Bulgarian diplomat to manage an EU delegation. The first was Ambassador Philip Dimitrov.

The Bulgarian foreign affairs minister, Nikolay Mladenov, expressesd his satisfaction with the decision of Catherine Ashton, to appoint Yuri Sterk as EU ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Mladenov underlined that this post of head of EU delegation in Uzbekistan is ‘key to the European policy in Central Asia’.
