Romania wants EU to review its cooperation verification mechanism

Romania’s newly appointed Justice Minister Titus Corlatean has stated that EU’s Co-operation and Verification Mechanism for his country should be reviewed later this year.

Five years after Romania’s accession to the European Union, it should be acknowledged that there is progress with the judiciary and the country cannot stay within the same framework of the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (CVM), Corleatan believes.

“This surveillance mechanism has been and is still extremely useful. It helped us to progress in the interest of the whole Romanian society,” the Romanian Justice Minister told reporters on Tuesday.
