Two cadets of the Serbian Military Academy died and seven suffered injuries at the Pasuljanske Livade training range in the central Serbia on Monday morning.The Serbian Defence Ministry has announced that two students of the fourth year of the Military Academy were killed by “a leftover 33mm grenade” near the central Serbian town of Cuprija on Monday morning at 9am local time.Two more cadets have suffered head and chest injuries, and are now in the intensive care unit at the general hospital in Cuprija, doctor Predrag Drenovakovic said. Five others suffered light wounds.
The cadets were at the range as part of their training in preparation for the school’s annual final drill, dubbed Diplomac 2012.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the accident happend when one of the final year cadets “found a leftover grenade, which then exploded”.
