Half of Serbia Now on Facebook

About 3.5 million people – roughly half the population of Serbia – are now on the social networking site Facebook, a recent survey shows.Half of Serbia’s roughly 7 million people now have an account on the social networking site Facebook, recent data show.

Facebook users in the country also represent 85 per cent of the total number of Internet users in Serbia.

This is according to the latest survey by the website Socialbakers, which deals with statistics and analysis of social networks worldwide.

About a million Serbs who use the social network are between 18 and 24, and some 55 per cent of users are men while 45 per cent are women.

According to the same survey, Serbs most “Like” the official Facebook page of tennis player Novak Djokovic, which has about 2.5 million “Likes”.

Other most “liked” pages include those of radio TDI (around 730,000), the biscuit variety called Smoki, mobile operators Vip and Telenor, another Serbian tennis player, Ana Ivanovic, and the Croatian singer, Severina.

Socialbakers says that over 935 million people on the planet now belong to Facebook.

The country with the most users is the US, where there are 164 million members. The US is followed by Brazil and India. The Vatican has the lowest number of Facebook fans, a mere 20.
