Macedonian PM calls for snap elections

Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has suggested organizing early parliamentary elections as a solution to the political crisis which arose after the failure of the commission investigating into the incidents in the parliament on December 24.

The deputy chairperson of the opposition Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), Radmila Sekerinska, said her party would not allow the organization of one more “criminal election” as a solution to the political crisis. According to her, a fair election race is an obligation under March agreement.

“You have promised to harmonize the election legislation with the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. You have pledged also to clean electoral rolls. You have not kept these promises,” she said.
