48 suspects arrested by security forces during operation in S. Pakistan

In a continued operation led by paramilitary Rangers in southern Pakistani city of Karachi, about 48 suspects were arrested on Tuesday, said police.

Rangers arrested 35 suspects during operations in different areas of Karachi while police arrested thirteen.

The security forces carried operation in Korangi Industrial Area, Itehad Town, Sultanabad, Site, Boatbasin, Garden, Shah Faisal Colony, Jamshed Town, Pathan Colony, Lyari, Landhi, Gadap, Shah Faisal Town, North Nazimabad and Sarjani Town of the economic hub.

According to the spokesman of Rangers, the arrested suspects include target killers, extortionists and those involved in gang wars. A police officer was also arrested from the Police Headquarters who was allegedly affiliated with militants.

Meanwhile, police arrested five suspects from Itehad Town who had been involved in numerous robberies.

Earlier, the Federal Cabinet approved an operation led by the paramilitary Rangers force Karachi against the militants creating lawlessness in Karachi. The largest Pakistani city of Karachi has been a target of violence from last few years and according to Human Rights Commission of Pakistan resulted in killings of 1,726 people in the first six months of 2013.
