U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived on Wednesday in Chisinau, Moldova’s capital, for talks with the Moldovan leaders, including President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Igor Corman and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
The head of the U.S. diplomacy said his country fully supported Moldova’s European aspirations and urged the Moldovan authorities to press ahead with democratic transformations.
“We are confident that any country has the right to make its own choice as concerns its development course,” he said, adding that “the United States is on your side and will continue backing you by providing the assistance you need.”
