US conducts airstrikes against IS near Kobane

imgThe US military continued to attack ISIL terrorists near Kobane Wednesday and Thursday in 14 airstrikes using bomber and fighter aircraft, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

“These airstrikes are designed to interdict ISIL reinforcements and resupply and prevent ISIL from massing combat power on the Kurdish held portions of Kobane, ” affirmed a CENTCOM statement.

“Indications are that airstrikes have continued to slow ISIL advances, but that the security situation on the ground in Kobane remains tenuous.” CENTCOM’s initial reports indicate the strike hit 19 ISIL buildings, two command posts, three fighting positions, three sniper positions, one staging location, and one heavy machine gun. All aircraft departed the areas safely.
