Tunisian Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche met, Friday in Tunis, ambassador of France in Tunis François Gouyette.
The meeting, which took place a few days after President Béji Caid Essebsi’s state visit to France, discussed “the large opportunities provided to further strengthen the excellent and intense Tunisian-French relations,” a statement of the Foreign Ministry reads.
Both sides agreed on the importance to rigorously follow up on the results of the state visit, particularly the conversion of EUR 60 million of Tunisian debt to France into development projects in disadvantaged regions as well as fostering co-operation in different fields as part of the new high-level bilateral mechanism.
The two officials also expressed conviction that the planned visits of the two countries’ senior officials will contribute to further developing the bilateral relations of friendship and co-operation.
Tunisia will receive, shortly, the French Minister of Culture and Communication and the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the French National Assembly.
